Unknown Letter from Igor Stravinsky to Jacques Handschin

Abstract

The article discusses the discovery of a letter, found in the Library of Basel University, by Igor F. Stravinsky (1932). It is the second known letter from the composer to Jacques Handshin. The full text of the letter is presented in the article, alongside the history of the relationship between the composer and the musicologist, and a number of suggestions are made in connection with the archival history (and later disappearance) of the collection of Stravinsky’s letters to Handschin.
