Abstract
Valentina Kholopova's book Musical Emotions is innovative scientific research published as a textbook for music universities. Its undoubted achievements are, firstly, the implemented in practice a holistic approach to emotion as a complex phenomenon (complexus effectuum), secondly, the unification of the theoretical and historical aspects, and, finally, the successful attempt to bring together two lines in the science of musical emotions — Western and Russian. The book contains and summarizes a wealth of material from both Russian sources and the latest Western literature.
