Ildar D. Khannanov

Professor of Music Theory at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. His Ph. D. dissertation in music theory, entitled “Russian Methodology of Musical Form and Analysis”, has been conferred in 2003 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It was completed under the supervision of Dr. Pieter C. Van den Toorn, Dr.Yuri Kholopov and Dr. Michael Beckerman. Dr.Khannanov has also completed the study at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (1988) and its graduate school (1993) with the dissertation on the topic of “Non-Verbal Specificity of Music” written under the supervision of Prof. Yu. Kholopov. Dr. Khannanov studied philosophy with Dr.Jacque Derrida at the University of California, Irvine (1997–2001).
