Abstract
The history of the Composition Department at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory is described. Chronologically arranged information on musicians who taught at this department is given, and their main achievements are outlined. Comprehensive and versatile characteristics of the most notable professors of this department are provided and confirmed by the students’ and colleagues’ opinions.
