Publishing ethics policy of the Journal of Moscow Conservatory follows the guidelines designed by the international Committee on Publication Ethics (СОРЕ). The Editorial Board is responsible for the quality of published articles and ensures maintaining publication ethics by the editors, reviewers, and authors. Manuscripts, which contents violate the RF law, are prohibited from publication.
Editors’ responsibilities:
— to be impartial, not to give preference to authors on the basis of gender, race, religious belief, nationality, ethnic origin, political beliefs, official status and other conditions unrelated to the scientific value of the work;
— to have no conflict of interest concerning the articles that they reject or accept;
— to engage competent reviewers, to practice double-blind peer-review process;
— to keep confidential all details of the editorial and peer-review process on submitted manuscripts, not to disclose the personal data of authors and reviewers;
— to faithfully edit the texts accepted for publication, to make revisions and to read proofs in agreement with the authors;
— to answer complaints concerning peer-reviewed manuscripts or published works. If a conflict is found, the editorial staff must take all necessary measures to restore any rights that were violated.
Authors’ responsibilities:
— to provide scientific novelty and high scholarly level of the submitted manuscripts;
— to guarantee the exclusivity of the submitted manuscripts (manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Moscow Conservatory should neither be published previously nor be under consideration for publication in another edition);
— to indicate as co-authors all persons who have made a significant contribution to the study;
— to indicate the contribution to the study of each of the co-authors (persons who took no part in the study are not allowed to be included as co-authors);
— to acknowledge individuals who do not meet the requirements for authorship but who have provided a valuable contribution to the work;
— not to allow plagiarism, to make references to sources, to ensure the accuracy of quoting;
— to cooperate with the editors at all stages of editing and proofreading;
— to inform the editors as soon as possible, if significant errors or inaccuracies are found in the paper at the stage of its consideration or after its publication;
— to disclose research funding and other financial support for study presented in the manuscript.
Reviewers’ responsibilities:
— to be impartial, to strive for objectivity in the evaluation of peer-reviewed materials, to make constructive comments;
— to report in the case of insufficient competence for an objective evaluation of the peer-reviewed materials;
— to observe the confidentiality of the evaluation, not to use the information obtained during the review for personal purposes or in the interests of other persons;
— to comply with the established review deadlines.
Publisher’s responsibilities:
— to ensure the timely publication of each issue;
— if necessary, to provide the Editorial Board with legal support;
— in collaboration with the editors, to publish corrections, clarifications, and to retract articles that have been identified to contain scientific misconduct and/or fundamental errors;
— to monitor the editors’ compliance with all current guidelines and standards for academic publications.
