Doctor of Art; thesis: Creative Process in Classic Music of the Orient (1995). Full Professor of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Subdepartment of Foreign Music History). Member of International Council for Traditional Music. Graduated from Academy of Art in Ufa (1976), then from post-graduate studies in Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema, majoring in ethnomusicology. Ph.D. thesis: The Problems of Forming in Azerbaijan Instrumental Mugham Improvisations (1982). Until 1993 Violetta Yunusova held postdoctoral position in Moscow Conservatory; since 1992 she has been teaching at the Conservatory. Author of more than 150 scientific works, published in Russia, Azerbaijan, Israel, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Turkey etc. Violetta Yunusova had participated more than 50 international scientific conferences, symposiums. From 1979 to 2001 she was a chief and a participant of 45 ethnomusicology expeditions to Azerbaijan, Central Asia. Her main fields of interest are: world music cultures, traditional classical and modern music of Asia.
