Aleksandr M. Merkulov


In 1970 graduated from Ippolitov-Ivanov Moscow Music College, in 1975 — from Glinka Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) State Conservatory. In 1979 completed a post-graduate course at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (scientific advisor — Mstislav A. Smirnov. Ph.D. (1981): The Problem of Entirety of Interpretation (on the Material of Piano Suites by Schumann and Mussorgsky). A. M. Merkulov teaches at the Subdepartment of History and Theory of Performing Art, Moscow Conservatory; since 1999 — Full Professor. He is the author of above 200 published works and the editor-compiler of a number of issues of Proceedings of Moscow Conservatory.
