Born in Noginsk. Graduated from Academic Musical College of Moscow Conservatory (1975), Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a musicologist (1980, scientific advisor Prof. E. V. Nazaikinsky). In 1984 she completed her postgraduate education at the State Institute of Art Studies (scientific advisor D. V. Zhitomirsky). Ph. D.; thesis “The Final Years of Schumann and His Vocal Symphonic Compositions” (1987). Associate Professor (2008), Full Professor (2013) at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (Subdepartment of Music Theory).
Leading Researcher at the State Institute of Art Studies (Department of the Modern Western Arts, 1984–2019).
Schumann Prize winner (FRG, 2000).
Dean of the Advanced Studies' Department (since 2020).
Co-founder and Board Member of the Russian Music Theory Society.
Member of the Academic Council and the Editorial and Publishing Council.
