Associate Professor at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and the St. Petersburg University, the editor-in-chief of the Conservatory journal Opera musicologica. Studied musicology at the St. Petersburg Сonservatory under Prof. L. Kovnatskaya; Ph. D. thesis: Folklore in Symphonies by R. Vaughan Williams (1994). Olga Manulkina worked as a music critic of the Russian federal newspaper Kommersant(1995–2002) and the magazine Afisha (2003–2009). In 2002 Olga Manulkina was a Fulbright scholar at the Graduate Centre of the CUNY. She is a member of the board of the Composers’ Union of St. Petersburg, and also the board of experts of Pro Arte Foundation. In 2007, 2010 and 2012 O. Manulkina worked as a member of the award committee for the Golden Mask National Theatre Award. In 2008 she coordinated the music festival American season in St. Petersburg. Olga Manulkina is the author of the book From Ives to Adams: American Music of the 20th Century (St. Petersburg, 2010), articles on Russian and American music, a number of translations, including Shostakovich: A Life Remembered by Elisabeth Wilson (St. Petersburg, 2006), and over 500 reviews and articles published in newspapers and magazines. Author-compiler (together with P. Gershenzon) of the collection New Russian Musical Criticism: 1993–2003 (vol. 1, Opera, 2015).
