Sergei A. Zagny

Born in Moscow in 1960. In 1988 graduated from Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory as a composer (class of Full Prof. A. S. Leman) and as a musicologist (class of Full Prof. V. V. Zaderatsky). In 1991 he completed his postgraduate course under Full Prof. A. S. Leman. From 1992 to the present he teaches at the Subdepartment of Composition, Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory (courses of polyphony, harmony, musical form). 
S. A. Zagniy is the author of instrumental and electronic works, including music for theatre and cinema. He performs his own music on piano, organ and other instruments. He is the author of performance art events and other projects. His music has been played at many festivals, including Alternativa (Moscow), Bang on a can (New York), Neopoznannoe dvizhenie (Unidentified Motion; Volgograd), Edinburgh International Festival, Buduschaya muzyka (Future Music; Moscow). Works by S. A. Zagniy have been published on CD by record companies Long Arms Records, Dom Records, Fancymusic.
