Born in 1969 in Kazan. Graduated from Kazan Musical College (1988), Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory (1993, class of A.L.Maklygin). In 1992 won the 1st prize in the All-Russian Contest of Students’ Scientific Works (Moscow). In 1995 graduated from the postgraduate studies at the Kazan Conservatory, defending in the Moscow Conservatory his Ph.D. thesis The A.N.Serov’s Operas in the Aspect of the Artistic Trends of His Time (supervisor — Doctor of Fine Arts, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory E.G.Sorokina). In 1999, at the Moscow Conservatory, he has defended doctoral thesis National Musical Culture as a Text: Tatar Music of the 20th Century. Since 1993 he has been teaching at the Kazan Conservatory. Since 2001 Professor, in 19992007 Deputy Rector for Science, in 2000–2003 and since 2010 Head of the Department of Music History, in 2003–2009 Head of the Department of Tatar Music, in 2009–2010 Head of the Department of Music Theory and History. Since 2021 — Acting Rector of the Kazan Conservatory.
