Biography

Born in Kirov region. In 2001 graduated from the Choral Conducting Department of Kirov Music College, and in 2005 — from Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Full Prof., People’s Artist of Russia Georgy V. Seleznev). In 2008 he completed his post-graduate studies at St. Petersburg Conservatory as opera singer (under Georgy V. Seleznev) and as chamber singer (under Full Prof., Honoured Artist of Russia Kira V. Izotova). From 2000 to 2018 Aleksei Chuvashov has been a soloist of the Opera and Ballet Theatre at St. Petersburg Conservatory. In 2015 he made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre. 
Aleksei Chuvashov is engaged in scientific, concert and teaching activities. Spheres of his scientific interests are the Russian music of the 18th century (namely, D. S. Bortniansky's), and the Italian comic opera of the 18th — first part of 19th centuries. He is the author of a number of research papers on the secular music by Dmitry Bortniansky, and also the author-compiler of the collection of arias from Rossini’s early comic operas. Currently, he is preparing for publication a four-volume collection of works by Dmitry Bortniansky.
